The Yakuels came to America with no money, the father worked hard as a taxi driver. They worked and sacrificed and struggled and saved. Through their continuous hard work they created a family operated taxi garage that is without question the greenest taxi operation in New York City, both metaphorically and literally. Mayor Bloomberg, Congressman Nadler, now Chairman David Yassky and former TLC Chairman Matthew Daus chose their garage as a backdrop to announce the Mayor’s plans for a more environmentally sustainable New York City with clean air taxis. The Yakuels only maintain hybrid vehicles to use as taxis. Their garage is immaculate and decorated with hanging plants everywhere, fish tanks for soothing contemplation, prayer room for devote drivers, and a recreational area for drivers to unwind before a stressful day behind the wheel.
